But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. (Matthew 6:33 HCSB)
Those three amazing chapters in Matthew, all red as it is full of His speaking, again this (early) morning took me so deep! Matthew 5, 6 and 7, are the chapters I read when life gets to overwhelmed and to full of people’s (mine) conclusions. Just returning to the moment when the way we do life and church and christianity we so easily defend and repeat day after day was still in front of us, ready to be written.
In those moments when Jesus, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the One who was and is and is to come, just set with the men and explained life and brought it back to this one sentence beginning with: But seek first…
And then I read and write and conclude that the demanding part of life is distracting us and the mind is drifting off, listing the “firsts” that took control of me. The worries, the attractions, the visible “needs” that ought to be in the category of “things that will be added” became so easily the first we have been “seeking”!
to seek in order to find
to seek a thing
to seek [in order to find out] by thinking, meditating, reasoning, to enquire into
to seek after, seek for, aim at, strive after
to seek i.e. require, demand
to crave, demand something from someone
first in time or place
in any succession of things or persons
first in rank
first, at the first
royal power, kingship, dominion, rule
not to be confused with an actual kingdom but rather the right or authority to rule over a kingdom
of the royal power of Jesus as the triumphant Messiah
of the royal power and dignity conferred on Christians in the Messiah’s kingdom
a kingdom, the territory subject to the rule of a king
used in the N.T. to refer to the reign of the Messiah

It is the most important question you have to ask yourself: How first is first? As “in the beginning” is about the Alpha, the “one who was”, the “before creation”, that is where first is first. Where His word was The Word, where no commandments were needed, where all our conclusions were not defiling the atmosphere and where the Word was with God and the Word was God (John 1:1).
As even today, life demands your decisions, where the conclusions of mankind distract you, subject everything under the rule of His first and live the proclamation that all the rest is just “things that will be added”!
