Deuteronomy 6:4-9: Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
As I wrote in my last blog, a wonderful awareness of responsibility is arising in the new generation of taking care of the commandment of the Lord to ‘make disciples of the nations’! With the hunger (which thankfully is created through famine) comes a longing to search for the real food and the real structures! A passion for the essentials, the core values of our faith is arising through a new love for the One and True Word: Jesus Christ! Through the dimensions of wonderful worship, the songs that are written create a longing for deeper intimacy because of the fleshy dirty life that is represented to us every minute of the world. The darkness is crying out load for the Light and then, the ‘being different’ suddenly becomes so relevant. During our visit in the Netherlands, is was so great to sense the hunger as during the every day, normal shopping, you could just talk and pray with the people you met on the shops.
Another great thing that comes out of the turmoil of emptiness of this world (even through the pushing agenda of the gay community) is the search for God’s original design for the marriage and the family. Even through the lack of examples of the former generations, a longing for God’s standards is in the hearts of the young fathers and mothers and the touching love of the Father as He promised to ‘supply in all of our needs’, by sending the resources even through the channel that were designed to control the mindset of the people: The Internet. God is opening storehouses of His bounty to feed the hungry.
A new generational awareness is arising and it is where the beautiful words of God are brought back into their right perspective. The persistence I see even in our children to IMPRESS, TALK, SIT AT HOME, WALK ALONG THE ROAD, LIE DOWN, GET UP, as the verse says that the commandments (words) of the Lord are in their hearts. The generational responsibility that they will never ever give to the system that is so ‘eager’ to take over that responsibility in order to IMPRESS their own agenda.
We are proud parents, watching the generation of our children in their effort to sacrifice their lives into the restoration of God’s Creation through the enormous effort they put in their responsibility!
Psalm 50:5 “Gather My faithful ones to Me,
those who made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.”
The covenant of God is always generational and it always costs! Fatherhood and motherhood, it costs! Time, selflessness, effort, energy…
But, it pays back with an eternal fruit!
